Rates and what they are based on

At first glance, clients may have the mistaken impression that BK invoices only for the interpreter’s onsite work.

All clients want to know how rates are calculated, which is why we offer a brief summary of the tasks involved below:

BK Interpreters® project management:

The project manager assesses the time interval, language combination, specialisation and venue for the event after receiving the client's request.

An interview is arranged with the client to provide exhaustive advisory services.

An estimate is issued.

The client accepts the estimate.

BK Interpreters asks the client for reference material.

BK Interpreters® engages in dialogue and works with the interpreter.

Preparation of the interpreter:

The interpreter prepares the job using the reference material supplied, draws up a list of terms and specialised expressions from the client's technical jargon and sources publications, links and other important documents online to prepare the job properly. The preparation time begins at least one week before the planned event and takes between 10 and 15 hours, although sometimes, for very technical events, this preparation may take up to 30 hours.

Preparation through BK Interpreters®:

BK Interpreters® takes care of the necessary sound and/or video checks, the inspection of the venue, preliminary interviews with the people in charge and other organisational work.

Preparation by BK Interpreters®:

BK Interpreters books flights and hotel rooms as necessary and prepares descriptions of the route, precise information for the client and the interpreters' work schedules.

Interpreting services:

The interpreter and, where applicable, the BK Interpreters® project manager travel to the venue, talk to the speakers and check the equipment, console, microphones, etc., several times with the help of our technicians.

BK Interpreters®, interpreting service:

After the interpreter has completed his or her work, he or she debriefs BK Interpreters®, which then reports to the client.

BK Interpreters®, follow-up work:

BK Interpreters® contacts the client for feedback.

The invoices are issued and sent to the client.
